Hello, welcome to my site. Here you will find more information about me and my academic endeavors. I pride myself in balancing the traditional role of a historian and graduate student with twenty first century methods and connecting it all to both the scholarly and public communities.

About My Reserach

I am a 19th Century Historian. My research focuses on the soldiers of the First Florida Cavalry (US) during the Civil War Era. I am looking at the plurality of loyalties and motivations that led these men to join a Union regiment in the Deep South and how they understood that identity during the war and in the Post War period. I am utilizing ArcGIS to map their social networks before, during and after their service.

In addition, I am a part of several digital and traditional history projects through the University of Central Florida and other institutions. I have been a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Central Florida and a Graduate Research Assistant with the Civil War Governors of Kentucky: Digital Edition. I am currently a communications assistant for the UCF Community Veterans history Project
